“ALLOTMENT COURT CASE AND ‘PEAS-FUL’ DEMONSTRATION FRIDAY JULY 25TH
ROYAL COURTS OF JUSTICE, WESTMINSTER

We have been campaigning for over 2 years now to save our Beautiful, historic Allotment site from being concreted over by developers and Watford Borough Council.

• We found out that this is a national problem and that since 2007, Eric Pickles, Secretary of State has granted 128 out of 132 applications to close or relocate allotment sites.

We have mounted a large National Social Media Campaign, appearing on BBC London, Local Radio shows, 5 live and in the National Press.

We have forced the local council to admit that despite all their spin and propaganda their will be NO NEW HOSPITAL and that in fact the actual proposed use of the allotment land is for a Car Park and housing!  http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/11230969.Watford_health_campus_new_hospital_on_site highly_unlikely_says_Mayor_Dorothy_Thornhill/

On Friday the 25th July, we Farm Terrace Allotments FINALLY get our day in court! The outcome of which will decide if we get to keep our site and set case law protecting other Allotments!

Court usually starts at 10.00 am and members of the public are welcome to attend. We believe this is the first time such a case regarding Allotments has ever been heard in the High Courts!

We would also love you to attend our ‘PEASFUL’ demonstration. It will take place outside the Royal Court’s of Justice from 12.00 – 14.00 and is our biggest chance for us all to show just how important Allotments are and how passionately we all feel about keeping them as a growing part of British Tradition!

• This will provide a massive photo opportunity for the press and members of the media. We want people to attend in gardening gear, with placards and banners and also Gardening Paraphernalia such as; watering cans, hand held gardening tools, watering cans, scarecrows, fruit, Veg and even Scarecrows! We want to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to attend and we reinforce that it will be a PEASFUL demonstration!
